Our Biosafety Level 1 lab is the standard safety level for working with common, low-risk organisms — bioart, fermentation, biomaterials, molecular gastronomy, biofabrication, and speculative design. No special permits required, just our safety orientation.

Biosafety Level 2 Facility

A separate Biosafety Level 2 room for work that requires higher containment — tissue culture, CRISPR, mammalian cell lines, and similar research.

Access requires documented Biosafety Level 2 training, regulatory compliance with KCDC and KBCH guidelines, and a reviewed research proposal. Contact us to discuss the approval process.

Getting Started

All new members begin with a safety orientation and equipment training. Staff help you scope your first project from there. Our biosafety committee reviews every project before it starts.
